Prices are per room only per night which includes breakfast, based on two adults sharing.

Credit/debit card details will be taken to secure the booking. Your booking is not confirmed until you receive an email of confirmation.

We are an adult – only guesthouse. For the comfort of our guests we therefore regret that we cannot take on children under the age of 14. Pets are also prohibited.

We take our Non-smoking policy seriously and ask guests to refrain from smoking throughout the property and the surrounding grounds.

Check-in times: 4 -7pm (a late check-in is available on request for those restricted by ferry or train times).

Check out time: 10am

Cancellation Policy

In the event of cancellation, we reserve the right to charge the following:

7 days before arrival 50% of total stay will be charged

Less than 4 days 100% of total stay will be charged

We recommend for any unforeseeable situations should a cancellation occur, that you take out appropriate insurance cover to avoid any losses you may incur due to cancellation at a late stage of your booking.

Accessibility

We are located on a hill that is not too steep but it is a short walk away from the centre of town. Our car park is at the back of the house facing Oban Bowling Green with a minute’s walk to the Atlantis Sport’s Centre (please check out our facebook page hawthornbank for directions if travelling by car). A walk round the side of the house will take you to the front door where we will meet and greet you on arrival.

We have one room on the ground floor, this room is ideal for those who do not wish to use the stairs. This room is on the same level as the breakfast room.

All other rooms are on the 1^st and 2^nd floor of the house with a landing between the floors.

Getting Here

Oban is easily reached from Central Scotland by taking the A82 &A85.

By train the journey takes you along the world-famous West Highland Line. Oban has its own station, Hawthornbank Guest House is just 10 minutes walk away.

Oban is a busy ferry port with regular ferries to and from the islands of Mull, Colonsay, Coll, Tiree, Lismore, Barra and South Uist. Many of these ferries also link up with other islands.

The closest airports are Oban (4.1miles) and Islay (59miles). Glasgow is the earest large airport to Oban and is approx. 90miles away.

By car:

Once you arrive in Oban, halfway down the hill, turn left onto Deanery Brae (just past the big yellow building Argyll House Hotel). At the end of the road head straight across towards Atlantis Sports Centre on Dalriach Road. Continue halfway up the road and you will arrive at Hawthornbank on the left hand side. We are positioned directly across from the Bowling green.

By train, bus or ferry:

Once you arrive at the Ferry Pier walk north along George Street. Continue past the Oban Distillery and the Highland Gift Shop. Turn right at Norries Fish and Chip Shop onto Craigard Road where the road ascent. Keep on walking bearing to the left of the fork (do not head towards the right fork as it is a steep climb). At the top of the road head towards the left until you come to Dalriach Road. We are on the left hand side across from the bowling green.
